Secure Ideas is seeking a Senior Technical Editor to own the quality, consistency, and professionalism of every customer-facing document and piece of content the firm produces. This is a newly created, senior-level editorial position dedicated to elevating deliverable quality while freeing consulting staff to focus on billable technical work.

This role sits at the intersection of technical editing, content strategy, and marketing/business development support. You will be the single point of ownership for reporting templates, statements of work (SOWs), proposals, consultant CVs, blogs, conference materials, and CFP (call-for-papers) submissions. The position is structured as partially billable, with time split between direct client-deliverable review/editing and firm-wide content and thought-leadership initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Deliverable Quality

  • Own all reporting templates, SOWs, and customer-facing written materials, including blogs and slide decks.
  • Review all pentest reports and client deliverables for grammar, formatting, clarity, and consistency.
  • Own and develop the peer review process end-to-end, ensuring every deliverable meets a consistent, professional bar before it reaches a client.
  • Maintain version control and consistent application of templates and standards across the consulting team.

Marketing, Business Development & Thought Leadership

  • Partner closely with Marketing to submit CFPs on behalf of consultants, or coach consultants through writing their own CFP responses.
  • Own and maintain consultant CVs for use in proposals and client-facing materials.
  • Ghostwrite articles and blog content on behalf of consultants who have subject-matter expertise but limited time or writing bandwidth.
  • Support development of conference talk content and help build and polish supporting slide decks.

Candidate Requirements

Required

  • Formal education in writing, journalism, English, communications, or technical writing.
  • Prior professional experience as a journalist, technical editor, technical content developer, or PR professional / established blogger.
  • Strong command of grammar, style, and editorial standards, with the ability to review dense technical material for clarity without losing accuracy.
  • Comfort operating as the final quality gate on client-facing deliverables under deadline pressure.

Preferred / Strong Differentiator

  • Direct experience in cybersecurity, and ideally offensive security specifically. Familiarity with pentest terminology, report structure, and the technical audience (both client security teams and executives) is a significant advantage and will shorten ramp-up time considerably.

  • Recovered billable capacity, as senior consultants spend less time on formatting and proofreading and more on technical delivery.
  • A steady, growing pipeline of CFP submissions, published articles, and conference talks that raise Secure Ideas' visibility in the market.
  • A single, well-maintained source of truth for templates, SOW language, and consultant CVs.
