Key Responsibilities

Engagement Delivery & Technical Leadership

  • Lead and perform advanced pentesting and security assessments, including network, web/API, mobile application, cloud, and red team/adversary simulation engagements as assigned.
  • Scope engagements accurately and identify the right testing methodology and tooling for each client's environment and risk profile.
  • Identify, validate, and exploit vulnerabilities beyond what automated tooling surfaces, applying deep technical expertise to uncover business-relevant risk.
  • Serve as technical lead on engagements, coordinating with any junior consultants assigned to the project and ensuring the work is completed to a consistently high standard.
  • Escalate scope, timeline, or technical risks to the Project Manager and leadership promptly.

Client Relationship & Communication

  • Participate in client kickoff meetings and serve as the primary technical point of contact once the Project Manager hands off the engagement.
  • Present findings and remediation guidance clearly to both technical and executive audiences, including in out-briefs and report walkthroughs.
  • Build lasting client relationships that support repeat engagements and account growth.

Reporting & Quality

  • Produce clear, accurate, and well-organized findings and reports that meet Secure Ideas' quality standards, in partnership with the technical editing function.
  • Peer review reports and technical work from other consultants to help maintain a consistent quality bar across the team.
  • Ensure documentation of testing methodology, evidence, and findings is thorough enough to withstand client or auditor scrutiny.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor Consultants and junior team members, providing technical guidance, code/report reviews, and hands-on coaching during engagements.
  • Contribute to internal training, tooling, and methodology improvements that raise the technical bar across the consulting team.
  • Support recruiting and technical interviewing for consulting roles as needed.

Thought Leadership & Business Development

  • Contribute to blogs, whitepapers, tool development, or conference talks that support Secure Ideas' reputation as an industry leader.
  • Support pre-sales activities such as scoping calls and proposal development when technical expertise is needed.

Candidate Requirements

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on pentesting / offensive security experience, including client-facing consulting engagements.
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple testing disciplines (e.g., network, web application, mobile, cloud, or red team).
  • Strong report writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing engagement deadlines, and lead technical work with minimal oversight.
  • Comfort mentoring and reviewing the work of less experienced consultants.

Preferred / Strong Differentiator

  • Industry certifications such as OSCP, OSCE/OSEP, GPEN, GWAPT, CRTO, or CREST CRT/CCT.
  • Experience with cloud security assessments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience conducting social engineering engagements (phishing, vishing, etc.).
  • A track record of public speaking, published research, blogs, or CFP submissions.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source security tooling.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience and will be discussed as part of the interview process.

What Success Looks Like

  • Engagements are delivered on time with technically rigorous, client-ready findings.
  • Clients view you as a trusted technical advisor, not just an engagement resource.
  • Junior consultants on your engagements grow measurably under your mentorship.
  • Your work and visibility contribute to Secure Ideas' reputation and pipeline in the market.
